The JFM Guilty Pleasures Playlist

Despite the shame and embarrassment this might bring to our new little company, we’re revealing our Guilty Pleasures Playlist that we’ve been fine tuning over the past few days.

There are some songs in the list that one might argue are just classics and therefore would cause no embarrassment. But the way I look at it is, would it stand the test of being played at a cocktail party without people giggling and snickering?

Between re-building the playlist three times in Napster’s wacky UI, Walter “accidentally” deleting the first playlist, and Hillel threatening to ban Napster from the office, I think we finally have a playlist saved in Rhapsody that we’re happy with. Here it goes in no particular order:

Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey
Can’t Fight This Feeling – REO Speedwagon
Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart – Elton John
You’re The Inspiration – Chicago
Copacabana – Barry Manilow
Sweet Caroline – Neil Diamond
No One Is To Blame – Howard Jones
Only You – Yaz
Total Eclipse Of The Heart – Bonnie Tyler
Angel Of The Morning – Juice Newton
Bette Davis Eyes – Kim Carnes
Hard Habit To Break – Chicago
Cherish – Madonna
Rainy Days and Mondays – The Carpenters
Babe – Styx
Heat Of The Moment – Asia
All Through the Night – Cyndi Lauper
I Write The Songs – Barry Manilow
Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go – Wham!
I Don’t Like Mondays – The Boomtown Rats
Walk Like an Egyptian – The Bangles
We Belong – Pat Benatar
Faith – George Michael
Freedom 90 – George Michael
Looks Like We Made It – Barry Manilow
Easy Lover – Philip Bailey
Hopelessly Devoted To You – Olivia Newton-John
Jesse’s Girl – Rick Springfield
Welcome to the Jungle – Guns N’ Roses
What a Feeling (Flashdance) – Irene Cara
Stuck on You – Lionel Richie
Rupert Holmes – Escape (The Pina Colada Song) *Not actually in Rhapsody
Hard To Say I’m Sorry / Get Away – Chicago
Mandy – Barry Manilow
Footloose – Kenny Loggins
Things Can Only Get Better – Howard Jones
Come Sail Away – Styx
We Built this City – Starship
I Wanna Know What Love Is – Foreigner
More than a Feeling – Boston
Top of the World – The Carpenters
Conga – Gloria Estefan
9 to 5 – Dolly Parton
It’s Raining Men – The Weather Girls
Morning Train (Nine to Five) – Sheena Easton
I’m Alright – Kenny Loggins

And yes, we crank the music and sing along in full voice. Heaven help our neighbors :)

I am both delighted and appalled with this list.

    Congratulations and shame on you.

    Oh, one more thing…

I think you’re missing Radar Love by Golden Earring.

I would like to know whether you are harmonizing and have lead and back-up vocals designated or if it is a free for all. I have this image of Walter doing the back up for Total Eclipse of the Heart while Jenny and Hillel are alternating the lead vocals. I think you are missing her other hit track (and a personal favorite), “holding out for a hero”…

    It is a great list.
