Simple Pleasures

There are all kinds of warnings, admonitions, and recommendations, in terms of what to expect both positive and negative when you run your own small business. Here’s one that was a pleasant surprise. While everyone else was busy doing important stuff like coding and designing I went to the bank machine to make a deposit. Depositing money in the bank (as opposed to taking it out) is a pretty positive experience in its own right. But that wasn’t the best part. This is only the second time I’ve had to go to the bank other than when we opened the bank account at the main office, so I didn’t know the closest ATM to our offices. I found a spot about 5 or 6 blocks away and then headed over.

Spending a few minutes walking through downtown Seattle on a spring day and having it be part of your job was a uniquely pleasurable experience. The weather was great, but even if it wasn’t, the fact that we’re downtown, and that even mundane tasks can require some time spent outside in the city I found just super enjoyable. I guess that was just a long winded way of saying I like working in the city. :)
