SignalApps

Super interesting development. This may have been happening for awhile and I hadn’t noticed, but I just saw that a company called SignalApps is marketing Mac-based client code applets that talk to 37 Signals apps. The 37 Signals guys have had an API for awhile so this is not surprising. But if someone could make a real business extending their apps, I would be very impressed. And no doubt some of 37 Signals much more established competitors should take notice.

Seriously… if a small company with a dozen people can not only support themselves with some small focused web apps, but support ancillary businesses built on top of the features they don’t have time to deliver, that’s impressive. I really hope that the plan for SignalApps is to become their own independent profitable concern and are not hoping to get bought by 37 Signals. I’ll be keeping an eye on SignalApps and rooting for them.

I love the micro-scale success!
