Jake Burton, Paula Scher, Gwen Stefani and HP
Right on the cusp of Branded Software Experiences is a set of flash-based sites from the printing group over at HP. Basically, the folks at HP worked with Gwen, Jake, and Paula to create little sites focused on print-based activities that reflect the personal brands of each of the personalities the sites are built around.
The site would be just another markety-contenty site but the Paula Scher actually has a collection of templates, and the Gwen Stefani section lets you make little paper versions of the Harajuku girls that accompany her on tour. Even though there’s not much “software” on the site (and the constant flash animations wear quickly as they get in the way of basic navigation of the site) I like that still there is something to actually do there. And of course, the fact that it’s all printing related is totally on point.
Now if only they could do something about the URLs. Is this: “http://h30393.www3.hp.com/printing/burton.html” really necessary? Was “http://www.hp.com/burton/” not available? Is “h30393” some cool l33+ that I’m too old to understand.
