Is nothing sacred?

Not only have the people at Cuban Council invented a time machine and kept it from the rest of humanity, but they ripped off our cool street scene masthead and travelled all the way to 2004 to put it on their site to give the impression that they had it first. To the folks at Cuban Council I say: you’re fooling nobody!

That said, we have to admit, their work is pretty damn sexy. (Note: we’re only saying this because we’re afraid they’ll go back in time and make it so we were never born.)

I enjoy your blog, think your portfolio is strong, and like your site design. But whining about another site’s marginally similar ( and decidely less blurry ) header image is beneath you.

I realize that whining about design theft is all the rage these days, but it’s time to move on: there’s no such thing as an original idea. Unless it’s a literal rip-off — unless it actually causes confusion in the marketplace — why bother?

( I reserve the right to rescind my comment should your post prove to have been cheeky and not bitchy. )

I debated putting in a smiley face. Maybe I should have. I thought pointing out that they had their cool header up two years ago made it pretty clear that we came up with ours much much later, but maybe not. :)

The whining has reached a fever pitch… so it was hard to tell.
